Self Sufficiency
We are trying to decrease our food miles by maintaining a level of self sufficiency. Also the taste of home grown vegetables and fresh, free range eggs is worth all the effort. We have also found that as we set up the property the way we want it, that we have to buy less and less from outside. The alpacas are providing our manure for the gardens. Their habit of always doing their business in only a couple of spots in the paddock makes gathering the manure very easy.
Forest
The forest provides us with our heating for the house. We only take wood that has fallen or that is overgrowing the tracks.
